How We Review And Rank Slot Sites

While reviewing any of the slot sites you see listed here we use the same strict criteria and methodology that we do with any new casinos that we list on site. That means they all go through the same 7 step process however we’re less generous with our markings as we’re not just focussing on new sites here and heighten our focus on the types of slots that are available:

Website UI/UX

Analysing a sites UI/UX is always a fun part of the review process, we get to explore the site and find where all the relevant areas are. Given we’re reviewing slots sites on this page we want to ensure that our readers can find the casinos selection of video slots with ease and once they’re there, they can find their favourite video slots. A good slot website UI would allow players to filter out specific games they like whether its jackpots, software providers or bonus rounds. The easier it is for us to find a game we want to play the higher the score it is we give them.

Slots & Software providers

Well what would a slots site be without online slots to play on it? This is the most important area when reviewing slot websites, the breath of games available and what software providers they use. Obviously the highest rated sites on our list have got a wide range of video slots from a multitude of different software providers. In fact, if a site has limited software providers you wont even see them on this page.

Usable Welcome Bonuses

Sounds peculiar doesn't it, a usable welcome bonus? Aren't all casino bonuses usable? And while that may be true we mean a really usable one, as in it doesnt come with a ridiculous set of terms and conditions with it. None of those 50 x wagering requirement that make it impossible to withdraw any winnings, we want fair and usable bonuses which enhance your time playing at a slots site.

Licensing & Fairness

We always ensure for a slots site to be featured on this page then they have to be licensed to take players in Ireland it's just our number one prerequisite for casinorecent.com, however as we’re dealing with mainly slots here we also like to dig around and see if we can find any information on past audits carried out on site. This is where a site has their games RTP audited to ensure that they are all paying out fairly. As you can imagine this is extremely important when dealing with highly volatile games such as video slots.

Payment Methods

A good range of payment methods is always a boon to see when we review any slot site, every casino site we review will always have the basics such as debit card, bank transfer and a few e-wallet methods such as Netller, Skrill and PayPal. We analyse the selection available and while this isn’t the most important area of a slots review it's still something we consider when ranking them above.

Withdrawal Speed

A great range of payment methods is always a boon but it's only a bonus if the slot site you sign up to has fast payout speeds. We’ve all been there with online casinos where we’re trying to cash out our winnings and it takes 4-5 business days to withdraw. It's 2020? There's no reason why withdrawals cant be processed and in our accounts the same day. We test each method to ensure how quick payments are made.

Customer Support

Should you get into issues at any slot site, having a great customer support team behind you is an absolute necessity. There are a variety of different ways that you can get in touch with a casino site whether its live chat, telephone or email. We test each support method out with a few trivial questions to ensure they are fast and responsive.

How To Play At a Slots Site

Playing at Slot Sites in 2020 couldn’t be any easier, sites have worked hard to ensure that the sign up process is a pretty smooth experience as the more complicated it is the more likely it is that you will drop off during registration. However if you get stuck at any point just follow our handy guide below:

1. Firstly you will want to select a site from our best slot site table above. Remember to choose the one that appeals most to you and not just because its at the top.
2. Once you’ve chosen what site you want to play at hit the play now button and you’ll be directed to the slot site landing page which will contain all the welcome bonus information should you want to claim it.
3. After this you will need to click on the registration button, this will populate a short form that you need to fill out with your personal details. Please pay attention to this section as they need to be correct, at some point you may be required to verify your account to process a withdrawal.
4. Once your account has been registered you’ll need to add funds to it. This is done by heading to the banking area of the site. Deposit the funds into your customer account. In this area you’ll normally be asked if you want to claim the sites slots bonus.
5. After you’ve funded your account its time for the final step, head over to the slots section of the site and play your favourite slots games.

Why play at a slots site?

This is a pretty straight forward question for us avid slot fans, we play them because we love the thrill of spinning the slots, the ludicrously high payouts and the bonus games that come with it. You just don't get the same thrill that you would with Blackjack or Roulette as they’re typically quite straightforward games.

With that in mind isn't it right that us slots players find sites that cater more towards what we want than say a casino site with a generic approach to games. So if you find yourself drawn to the slots of a casino more than any other game then we’d advise you to check slots sites.

The Different Types of Online Slots

Online slots can be split up until multiple different categories:

Classic Slots – Not all of our readers enjoy the thrill of a HD Video Slot, some prefer the feel of a more classic slot machine more akin to the old school games you’d see in a Las Vegas casino than the ones you’d see on the internet. 3 reel classic slots will have a limited amount of paylines so don't be expecting the same huge payouts as the 5 reel video slots alternatives. If you’re looking for a nostalgic trip down memory lane then you should certainly check out what classic slots are available for you to play on, one particular software provider with a fair few classic slots under their belt is Net Entertainment.

Video Slots – The future of online slots and the most commonly seen slot game at any of the slots sites we’ve reviewed. Expect HD graphics, multiple bonus rounds, slick animations and complimentary sound effects. Video slots have come along way since the dawn of the internet with some games looking more like they should be on a games console than an online casino. Features of video slots include bonus rounds, free spins, scatter symbols and wild symbols. Software producers are always looking at ways to revolutionise their video slots whether its by new bonus rounds or win both ways features.

Progressive Jackpots – Any experienced slots player has seen them. The video slots with the jackpot counters over the top of them, while most online slots do have jackpots not all of them have progressive jackpots. These games will continually increase in value as people play as a portion of the wager goes directly to the jackpot. Everyone dreams of hitting a progressive jackpot as they usually result in a life changing sum of money with some of the biggest winners getting upwards of €10million from just one lucky spin.

Most Popular Slot Software Providers

We’ve mentioned it multiple times on this page and some of our new readers may be wondering what could be the difference between each software provider as they all produce slots? Well each one has their distinct feel to it which you can certainly see in the games that they create:

Playtech

Playtech are one of the original software developers, having been around since online slots sites first came into existence they’ve honed their skills over the years and quite rightly sit there as one of the most popular developers of all time. Some of the more popular slots that have been produced by Playtech are the Pink Panther, The Mummy, Superman, Batman & The Life Of Brian. As you can see from their popular titles Paytech tend to get their hands on popular film IPs and produce slots based around them.

NetEnt

NetEnt have grown from strength to strength over the years, being one of the first developers to truly undertake the increase in mobile casinos and ensuring that their slots are optimised for mobile devices. They were also at the forefront of crafting HD video slots and incorporating a range of bonus features in their games as well. Some of the popular slots by NetEnt are Gonzo’s Quest, Guns N Roses, Starburst, Jack Hammer, South Park and Jimi Hendrix. NetEnt also is known for offering some of the highest payout slots going RTP wise, with some having up to 99% RTP if you play it in the way it's intended.

Microgaming

Microgaming are another slots software provider who have remained at the top of their game ever since the conception. In fact he was microgaming who had the largest jackpot win with €13 million hit on the Mega Moolah Slot. Some of the more popular video slots produced by Microgaming over the years are Thunderstruck, Playboy, Immortal Romance, Game of Thrones and Avalon 2.

Upcoming Software Providers

With the slot sites industry ever changing, it's important that sites keep up to date with all the latest trends and with new developers coming on the market yearly it's important to keep track of the up and coming ones who will vy for the title of best software producers. Below are just a small selection of the ones we’ve seen recently that we’ve paid particular attention to:

Yggdrasil Gaming

Yggdrasil gaming are one of the newer slot producers on our list and are owned by the Cherry AB group who also own a number of online casinos. Offering players the chance to play a variety of HD video slots. Some of their more popular games include Ice And fire, Pirates, Pop Rocks, Neon Rush and Temple Stacks. Quickly growing in popularity with slots players all over Ireland these are certainly a brand to watch out for for the next few years.

Thunder Kick

Another Swedish based software company who are quickly growing in size thanks to some truly intuitive video slots. Founded in 2012 this software developer has a fair few games under its belt such as Arcader, 1429 Uncharted Seas, Turning Totem, Magicious and many more. Their focus is on high end HD video slots and this is certainly an area that we feel they excel in.

The Best Slot Bonuses To Claim

Slots sites all use a welcome bonus as part of their marketing in order to draw in new customers to play at their site. Obviously as slots players we’re looking for a slots orientated bonus though, something similar to a deposit bonus and free spins that can be used on a specific slot. Below are just some of the different types of slot bonuses that we see when reviewing slot sites:

Welcome Package – Our favourite type of slots bonus, welcome packages are built up of two different types of offers. Typically it tends to be a first deposit bonus/multi stage deposit bonus with free spins on a specific game. We always go for the welcome package that has free spins on slots we like as it just adds to the fun.

Free Spins – Free spins are great for us slot players, it's a slot dedicated bonus as they can be used on any other game. Not all free spins are the same though, some of the slots sites will have wager free spins which means your winnings can be cashed out instantly whereas others will require you to wager through before you can cash anything out.

First Deposit Bonus –  First deposit bonuses are a bonus that's given when you make your first deposit into your casino account. These come in all shapes and sizes with different multipliers or bonus amounts. We’ve seen bonuses range from deposit €10 play with €70 all the way to 100% up to €500.

No Deposit Offers – No deposit bonuses are pretty rare to find nowadays as slot sites prefer to verify players before they are allowed to play games. However they used to be added to your account after you had successfully registered with them.

Slot Sites FAQ

Below are some of the questions that our readers have asked:

Can I play other casino games at Slot Sites?

Of course you can, while slots may be the focus of this page all the casinos that we review will have other casino games there as well. However what you may find is they dont offer as wide a variety of games like you'd get at other sites. So expect the basics such as roulette, blackjack and baccarat with a few variants of each.

Can I play slots for free without signing up?

This is no longer possible, in order to prevent any underage gambling you must sign up to a casino and have all of your details verified to ensure you are over 18+ to play games for free. Even then a lot of slot sites no longer offer this anyway. There are some sites otu there which do have free play versions though.

What Is RTP %?

RTP % stands for return to player percentage. This is how much should be returned to the players on average e.g. if you wager €100 you will get €95 if the slots RTP is 95%. However this is never the case and is more a general overview for all players. It obviously varies on each player as some players win and some players lose.

Can I play slots on my mobile phone?

Of course you can, while all new slots developed have been created already optimised for the mobile phone, you may fnd some of the older video slots on slots sites still havent. Unfortunately given the resources it takes to convert a slot to mobile this may not happen, especially if its not as popular with punters as some of the others in their catalogue.

Will I pay tax on my slot winnings?

No, Ireland Slots Players will not have to pay any income tax on their winnings. Fortunately for us based in the Ireland, the government have said any winnings from gambling are exempt from Ireland Income Tax. this is definitely one of the boons of being Ireland based and gambling.

Can I use free spins on any slots?

When claiming free spins bonuses it will say in the terms and conditions which slots you can use them on, normally the slot site determines anything from 1 – 4 different online slots which they can be used on. However any winnings that you generate from your free spins bonus will be able to be used on any slot on site.
